Sound familiar?

Many applications, hardly any replies

You send off your documents and hear nothing for weeks. Often your CV and cover letter do not yet match the job closely enough. That can be changed.

In the interview, the words do not come

You know what you can do, but in the job interview it does not come across. Practice helps, ideally with honest feedback.

A gap in your CV

Parental leave, caring for a relative, illness or a long search: you wonder how to explain it without having to justify yourself.

Who is it for?

Who is application coaching with AVGS for?

JobWeg is intended for people who are looking for a job and are registered with the Employment Agency or the Jobcenter. Whether you are a skilled worker, a graduate, just starting your career or changing fields, your qualification does not matter. What counts is that coaching brings you closer to your next job. These situations are typical:

  • You receive unemployment benefit I (ALG I). Then your Employment Agency is responsible, and you discuss the voucher with your placement specialist.
  • You receive basic income support (Grundsicherungsgeld, formerly Bürgergeld). Then your Jobcenter is responsible. It funds coaching under § 16 para. 1 SGB II, which refers to the activation measures in SGB III.
  • You have been given notice or your contract is ending. People who are at risk of unemployment and registered as job seekers can also be funded under § 45 SGB III. Registering is mandatory anyway: at the latest three months before your employment ends, or within three days if the notice period is shorter (§ 38 SGB III).
  • You are returning to work or want to change sectors. After parental leave, caring for a relative or illness, and when changing careers, the coaching helps you tell your story in a way that makes sense to employers. Here too, you need to be registered as a job seeker.

Good to know

The AVGS is a discretionary benefit. There is no legal entitlement to application coaching; your placement specialist decides whether it will help you. The entitlement under § 45 para. 7 SGB III applies only to a voucher for private job placement, not to coaching with a provider.

Coaching content

What we work on in application coaching

80 teaching units leave room for more than a new CV. We agree on the priorities together at the start, depending on where you are stuck right now.

Application documents

We bring your CV, cover letter and attachments up to date and tailor them to the job you want. Along the way, you learn how to adapt them yourself for every further application.

Job search and strategy

We work out which jobs suit you, where to find them and how to plan your applications. This includes the job portal of the Employment Agency, other job boards, speculative applications and your own network.

Job interview

We practise typical and difficult questions in role plays by video, with honest feedback. That way you go into the interview prepared, whether in person, by phone or online.

LinkedIn and online applications

A complete profile on LinkedIn or XING makes you visible to recruiters. We build it with you and go through online forms and application portals together.

Gaps in your CV

Breaks are part of many CVs. We find a short, honest explanation that you can stand behind confidently in your cover letter and in the interview.

Strengths and self-presentation

Many people know what they can do and still find it hard to say. We collect examples from your working life that make your strengths tangible.

The coaching takes place one-to-one, just you and your coach. Between sessions, you put into practice what we discussed and bring questions and new job ads to the next session.

In 4 steps

How to get funded application coaching

  1. Initial consultation. In 30 minutes we clarify, free of charge, where you stand, what kind of job you are looking for and whether JobWeg suits you. Afterwards you have all the details your placement specialist needs.
  2. Apply for the AVGS. You talk to your placement specialist at the Employment Agency or the Jobcenter and name the program: JobWeg by UW Unternehmensweg GmbH, provider approval Z-000392-2, program approval Z-001366-3, 80 teaching units online. Say specifically where you need support.
  3. Submit the voucher. If the AVGS is issued to you, it states the goal, scope, validity and region of the measure. You submit the voucher to UW Unternehmensweg GmbH. We check whether JobWeg matches the requirements and confirm your participation in writing.
  4. Approval and start. Your Employment Agency or Jobcenter checks the program and sends you the approval notice. Only then does your one-to-one coaching begin, online and at times that fit your everyday life.

Costs and funding

What does application coaching with AVGS cost?

With an AVGS approved in writing, you pay nothing for JobWeg. UW Unternehmensweg GmbH invoices the program directly to the Employment Agency or the Jobcenter. You do not pay in advance and there is no personal contribution.

With an approved AVGS

€0 personal contribution. The Employment Agency or the Jobcenter covers the cost of the program. There are no travel costs with online coaching. According to the Federal Employment Agency, childcare costs can be reimbursed under certain conditions; ask your placement specialist before you start.

Without an AVGS

Without an approved voucher, you bear the costs yourself. Whether coaching as a self-payer is an option for you and what it would cost, we discuss in the free initial consultation.

Important: the funding only applies from the written approval onwards. Coaching that has already started is not covered retroactively. That is why we always start only once the approval notice is in place.

Online nationwide

Online application coaching in your city

JobWeg takes place entirely online. All you need is a computer with a camera and a stable internet connection. So it does not matter where you live: the voucher is issued by your local Employment Agency or Jobcenter, and you do the coaching with us by video.

For example, you can use application coaching with AVGS from these cities:

  • Berlin
  • Hamburg
  • Munich
  • Cologne
  • Frankfurt am Main
  • Stuttgart
  • Düsseldorf
  • Leipzig
  • Dortmund
  • Essen
  • Bremen
  • Dresden
  • Hanover
  • Nuremberg
  • Duisburg
  • Bochum
  • Wuppertal
  • Bielefeld
  • Bonn
  • Münster
  • Mönchengladbach
  • Leverkusen

You do not need an appointment on site. If you are planning to start a business rather than find a new job, our city pages on AVGS coaching list the Employment Agency and the Jobcenter near you.

Which coaching fits?

Application coaching, job coaching or start-up coaching?

You will come across all three terms in connection with the AVGS. Application coaching and job coaching usually mean the same thing: support on the way to a new job. With us, the JobWeg program covers both. If you want to become self-employed, the start-up coaching BusinessWeg is the right choice.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about application coaching with AVGS

How do I get an AVGS for application coaching?

Raise it with your placement specialist at the Employment Agency or the Jobcenter, either at your appointment or in writing. Explain where you need support in your job search and name a suitable approved program, for example JobWeg (program approval Z-001366-3). If your Employment Agency or Jobcenter has no suitable program of its own, it can issue you an AVGS. You get the details of the provider and the program from us in the initial consultation.

What does application coaching cost without an AVGS?

Without an approved voucher, you bear the costs yourself. We do not state a fixed price here. Whether coaching as a self-payer makes sense for you and what it costs, we discuss in the free initial consultation. It is often worth talking to your placement specialist about an AVGS first.

How long does the application coaching take?

JobWeg comprises 80 teaching units (UE) of one-to-one coaching. How you spread them over the weeks, we agree with you. Your voucher sets the framework: it states the number of teaching units and the period in which you can redeem it.

Can I do the application coaching completely online?

Yes. JobWeg is approved as a digital program and runs entirely online by video. All you need is a computer with a camera and a stable internet connection. As a side effect, you practise exactly the situation you will meet in many application processes: the video interview.

Can I choose the provider myself?

Yes. The AVGS entitles you to choose a provider whose approved program matches the goal and content of your voucher (§ 45 para. 4 SGB III). You can find suitable offers in the AVGS search of the Federal Employment Agency. The provider submits the voucher before the program begins; that is why your coaching only starts once everything has been settled.

What can I do if my placement specialist says no?

Ask for the reason. It often helps to describe more precisely why your applications have not worked so far and what coaching should change. Sometimes the Employment Agency or the Jobcenter also offers a program of its own that suits you. If your situation changes, for example because the search takes longer than expected, you can raise the topic again later. If you receive a written decision, it states how you can challenge it.

Is this also possible with basic income support (Grundsicherungsgeld, formerly Bürgergeld)?

Yes. In that case your Jobcenter is responsible. It can fund measures for activation and occupational integration under § 16 para. 1 SGB II, including with an AVGS. Here too: it is a discretionary benefit, and the coaching only begins after written approval.

What makes a strong set of application documents?

As a rule, a cover letter that addresses the job, a complete and easy-to-read CV and your most important references. In Germany, a photo is optional. In the coaching we go through, job by job, what belongs in and what can go, and bring your profile on LinkedIn or XING up to the same standard.

How does a coach help me explain gaps in my CV?

We talk openly about the period in question and find a short, honest way to describe it. In the interview training, you practise saying it calmly and without lengthy justification. Often it turns out that there is more in the gap than you thought, such as caring for a relative, further training or volunteering.

Will the coaching definitely get me a job?

No, nobody can promise that. Employers decide whom they hire. The coaching improves your starting position: documents that match the job, a focused search and more confidence in the interview.
